What’s the story for DREAM WITH ME ?

Hi, I’m Eric Gynan, Cofounder of the Rock band Leaving Eden from New England USA.

Leaving Eden Lineup: Eve Lead Vocals, Alyssa Bailey White Keys and Vocals, Jake Gynan Drums, Eric Gynan Guitars and Vocals, Rich Chouinard Bass and Vocals.

Leaving Eden is about to release their 7th Album Titled: “Dream With Me” which is also the Title Track to be released world wide and distributed by Dark Star Records/Sony/Universal.  Eric Gynan, Cofounder of the Rock band Leaving Eden from New England USA says “In this album we got the best of both worlds, where again like our last 2 Albums, we were able to take all the time necessary to record and produce “Dream With Me” in Leaving Eden’s Studio. But then, to have One of the best Rock Engineers in the world as far as I’m concerned, Grammy Award Winning Engineer Johnny K. (Disturbed, Staind, Finger Eleven, 3 Doors Down, Megadeath, Sevendust, Plain White T’s, POP Evil, Trapt, Drowning Pool, Alien Ant Farm, and many more) for Final Mix and Mastering is my dream scenario!”  Eric goes on to say, “I love working With Johnny, he cracks me up!  No, but really he’s a genuine connoisseur of great music with so much talent, it’s such a pleasure to call him my Friend. We’ve worked together on other albums but this one, to have the freedom to dig deep and experiment with my own unique recording techniques and then to have Johnny put his final touches on it was a real treat!”

Who composes ?...How does it work in the band ?  Who writes the texts ?..What are they talking about ?..How does inspiration come ?

I am the primary songwriter however Alyssa co-wrote the title track “Dream With Me”.  Basically I get into a meditative state and connect with the universe. I simply listen. I use my fingers as biological antennas. I mean if a piece of metal can be used as an antenna to pick up radio signals then I’m sure the fingers prove to be better because there’s living energy. I can then hear the songs complete with all the melodies, harmonies , riffs etc.  I also believe that the musicians that have passed on look for a vessel to continue their music. As strange as all that may sound and potentially crazy, it works for me. There’s never writers block or anything because really I have to shut it off. There’s too much coming in and I can’t be writing 24 hours a day.  I certainly can be inspired by other songs. Everyone in the band then puts their own swing on it and input so that everybody gets to be creative.  Everyone in the band is also encouraged to write their own songs.  Format changes or anything else like that is also encouraged.  The lyrics are based in reality typically. They also can show the struggle between the good and evil that is inside every one of us.

What are your personal musical tastes and your influences ?

Love listening to all the new stuff, new bands and classic bands as well because let’s face it, when I was a kid that’s all I heard. Classics like Fleetwood Mac, Black Sabbath, Disturbed, Shinedown, Simon and Garfunkel, ELO, The Beatles, really anything and everything. Heavy metal, acid rock, and folk music.

What's your best live memory ? And why ?

There’s so many!  I think sharing the stage with artists like Dimebag Darrell and brother Vinnie Paul or Ronnie James Dio and Black Sabbath, or Stone Temple Pilots singer Scott Weiland and the list goes on, having those moments are treasured as it can never happen again. Quite surreal if I may say.

You can see the list below.

Leaving Eden has toured the USA, UK & Canada sharing the stage with hundreds of the biggest national bands in the world including; 10 Years, 10 Years After (Woodstock Reunion), Adelitas Way, Alice Cooper, Alice In Chains, Anthrax, Apocalyptic Review (featuring members of Godsmack), Avenged Sevenfold, Big Brother and The Holding Company (Woodstock Reunion), Black Sabbath (Heaven & Hell), Blackstone Cherry, Bret Michaels, Buckcherry, Chevelle, Collective Soul, Country Joe (Woodstock Reunion), Damage Plan, (Featuring Dimebag & Vinnie Paul) Days Of The New, Disturbed, Dope, Dropkick Murphy's, Drowning Pool, Five Finger Death Punch, Fuel,  Gemini Syndrome, Gin Blossoms, Godsmack, Halestorm, HELLYEAH, Herman Rarebell (The Scorpions), Hinder, Hookers & Blow (featuring members of Guns ‘N' Roses, Quiet Riot, W.A.S.P.), In This Moment, Jefferson Starship (Woodstock Reunion), Killswitch Engage, Kittie, Korn, Lacuna Coil, LA Guns, Lamb Of God, Lita Ford,  Lynyrd Skynyrd, Marilyn Manson, Michael Schenker (UFO, MSG & The Scorpions) Motorhead, Mudvayne, Mushroomhead, Napalm Death, Nicko McBrain (Iron Maiden),  Nonpoint, One Eyed Doll, Papa Roach, Pop Evil, Powerman 5000, Puddle Of Mudd, Queensryche, Ratt, Rob Zombie, Ronnie James Dio, Saliva, Saving Abel, Scott Stapp (the voice of Creed), Sebastian Bach, Seether, Sevendust, Shinedown, Slayer, Soil, Soulfly, Steven Tyler, Stone Sour, Taproot, Ted Nugent, Testament, The Butcher Babies, The Misfits, Theory Of A Deadman, Trapt, Tremonti (Creed/Alterbridge), Trixter, Uncle Kracker, Warrant, ZZ Top, Nickelback, Skillet & many more

In studio, what was the atmosphere for your new album ?...etc.…

Well fortunately for us Leaving Eden has its own recording studio.  We did this primarily because going off to the studio with a set time schedule can be constricting. In our studio, we can simply take as much time as we need to be creative. I usually have all of the scratch tracks completed so let’s say the song is pre-recorded so that everybody can listen and go from there.

How does it work for the design of the CD ? and why this title ?

Eric Gynan and friend Dana Anderson brainstormed Album art concepts agreeing on having all the titles to the songs kind of being hidden in plain site throughout the Album Art.  “It's fun, some stuff is blatant, but some stuff is a little more difficult to pinpoint.”  It’s a very good reason to buy the CD instead of just streaming the music or downloading it.  “To  me, having the physical Cd in hand gives the listener more of a connection to Leaving Eden and when you come to a show, you get it signed by the whole band, a cool memento so to speak.”

So again I make that universal connection which is called your imagination by the way, and can see the album art in my mind's eye.

How was the shooting of the clip DREAM WITH ME ? and why this choice ?

Well it was the title track and it was also at the beginning of this stay at home order. A lot of times in the songs, they can be prophetic (seeing the future).  Dream with me was one of those songs. That’s why the video is affiliated with the CoronaVirus. Unfortunately, Rick and Jake, our bass player and drummer were not in the studio. I had to use clips of them and fortunately, we had just come off of Tour from down south in the USA so I had some pretty good clips.  It ended up being pretty cool with 50,000 views in a short time.

What are your projects ?

Currently, as you know, the Leaving Eden Album “Dream With Me” was just released worldwide and due to the stay at home order CoronaVirus, we normally wait till August to start recording our next album. Well the theory of;  every setback becomes an opportunity, we’ve pretty much finished recording the next album. It still has to go through the mixing/mastering process but the physical recording is primarily done with a few more little things left.

Tracks from this album and other Leaving Eden albums will be featured in Massimiliano Cerchi’s movies: Painkiller, Mayday, Lockdown and Penthouse starring Michael Pare (The Philadelphia Experiment,  Eddie and the Cruisers). And Bloodthirst.

“We are excited about this new album also, because the entire album and lots of tunes from our previous albums will also be featured in a new fake reality comedy movie titled “The Nitwit”

“Originally I had written The Nitwit movie script loosely based on real life events with the intention of having Leaving Eden’s music throughout the movie and procuring other pros to make the movie. Where Leaving Eden has been involved with having our music placed in different movies and TV series this simply made sense. While in Iowa after wrapping up on a shoot I sat down with Nitwit Movie Producer, Ray Van Blarcom and Actor, Matt Moody over a scotch and threw the script down on the table. They started reading it, thought it was hilarious so we decided let’s make the movie. For me being the director of several music videos it was a very simple transition to direct The Nitwit Movie. Finally, I was intrigued by Matt Moody’s experience not only in production but as an actor. Ironically Matt fit the leading role as The Nitwit perfectly.  He then brought in Jordan Smith as his co-star and Nitwit Movie Producer, Fran Huges, the rest is history. We expect the movie to be released in 2020 by SGL Entertainment.”

What's your motto ?

Our motto has always been that we will play anywhere, anyway, anyhow so long as we can and that has really proven to open doors, meeting new friends and creating opportunities.  There’s gigs that were half way across the country for instance with no monetary gain, in fact the expenses put us in debt. For example this one gig on Arizona from Boston USA (long trip) led us to Hollywood and a movie.
